Reimagining the bonobos’ greenhouse habitat

Phase 1 Match Achieved

Thanks to the rapid and generous response of the Ape Initiative community, we have officially met our $5,000 matching gift challenge ahead of schedule! Together, we have secured the first $10,000 of funding required to begin construction. By overhauling the fixed glass and replacing it with state-of-the-art operable windows, we can ensure our bonobos family can safely enjoy this beloved space year-round. Launching Phase 2: Sponsor a Window

We have just under $14,000 left to raise to fully complete the greenhouse renovation. To get us there, we are officially launching our Sponsor a Window campaign!

• The Goal: Upgrade the fixed panels into state-of-the-art operable windows to create a breezy, indoor-outdoor retreat for the bonobos.

• The Cost: Each custom, high-tech operable window costs $2,000 to fabricate and install.

• How to Participate: You can sponsor a window as an individual donor or pool your funds together as a collective group (friends, family, or coworkers!).

Leave Your Mark on the Greenhouse

To honor your vital role in this renovation, anyone who sponsors a full window ($2,000) will have their name(s) permanently engraved on a prominent plaque located right outside the bonobos' greenhouse windows next to the lobby space. If you have already contributed to this project during our recent matching gift challenge, your previous donation can be applied toward your total for a named window. Your generosity will be visible to every visitor, researcher, and student who walks through our doors!

Community Window Option: To pool your contribution with other supporters to fund a collective window, please make a general donation of any amount and indicate "Community Window" in the notes section of your donation. Contributors to the Community Window will have their names included on a shared community plaque.
