Kanzi's Legacy Tour
Kanzi's Legacy Tour
Kanzi’s Legacy Tour!
At Ape Initiative, our primary commitment is advancing the scientific understanding of bonobos while providing immersive educational experiences for K–12 and university students. Because Ape Initiative operates strictly as an active research center, our doors remain closed to the public.
In honor of Kanzi, we are extending these rare educational visits to our community.
In 2027, we are opening our facility for just 12 private visits throughout the year, allowing one group per month the unique opportunity to step into the world where bonobo science, education, and conservation happen every day.
You are invited to bring a private group of up to 12 participants to experience our facility through the same lens as visiting researchers, scholars, and educators.
What You Will Experience
Observe Bonobo Behavior Firsthand: Gain a rare look at the daily lives of the resident bonobos, observing their complex social dynamics, communication, and intelligence.
Discover Our Research & Findings: Explore the methods scientists use to study ape cognition, what decades of research have revealed about our closest living relatives, and why these discoveries matter.
Explore Wildlife Conservation: Learn about the urgent threats bonobos face in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and how research conducted at Ape Initiative directly informs our understanding of bonobos.
Meet the Team: Enjoy dedicated discussion time with our staff to ask your deepest questions about bonobo behavior, recent scientific discoveries, and how bonobos fit into the great ape picture.
Flexible Scheduling: We will coordinate with you directly to schedule a date and time that suits your group (Monday–Sunday, between 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM during your designated month).
Sustaining Our Mission
A contribution of $500 for your private group visit directly funds and supports the daily care of Ape Initiative’s bonobo family, and is 100% tax-deductible.
Because we are hosting only 12 of these private educational visits across all of 2027, reservations are offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
Only one tour is available per month | Book yours today!
